All about us

St. Luke's Altar Guild

Our Altar Guild serves the Lord by preparing the Altar for worship. It is a prayerful offering by men and women to make the church ready for Eucharist, Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, and Burial of the Dead.  Both men and woman are welcome to serve on the most important and prayerful parish committee.  Altar guild members serve on small teams that prepare for the  Sunday Eucharist.
This is an excellent way to learn about the sacramental life of our church.  This is because the Eucharist and the Altar play a most important role in our worship, the work of the Altar Guild is a blessing both to the parish and to the guild members.   The guild cares for the Altar vessels, sacred linens and clergy robes to ensure everything is in spotless condition and properly placed prior to Celebrating Holy Eucharist every Sunday or other special occasion.  Since we are at this time a church in a box, the Altar Guild has additional work each week to ensure an Altar is in place and ready.  For this we are most grateful.

                        St. Martha’s Guild

St. Martha was the sister of Mary & Lazarus, friends of Jesus. In the Gospel of Luke 10:38-42, Martha served Jesus and the Apostles the elements of hospitality including a meal after a daylong ministry of preaching and healing. As such, St. Martha’s Guild is an important group within St. Luke’s parish.
In times of need Saint Martha’s Guild comes together to provide the comfort and care of the family of God. In times of crisis, strain, or death, the people of Saint Martha’s Guild pull together to provide meals and other forms of support for those in need (e.g., if someone’s spouse is in the hospital or at home ill and could use help with cooked meals). Also, if a family needs assistance with a reception at a funeral in the Parish, the Guild comes together to help families in this area of need. The Guild can also be called into service for occasional or special needs from within the membership of the Parish or from the community. This is a vital ministry to people in moments of great need. Like Saint Martha, this Guild takes on some of the burden of organization and preparation so that families can focus on what’s important—their loved ones and Jesus.
Members of this guild also design, coordinate and execute fundraising activities to support the our Parish. St. Martha’s Guild assists with dinners and receptions. Members are of all ages and volunteer as they are able. The monies raised through their efforts are used to the glory of God to provide for the needs of the parish as well for those in need. They are also key in providing for fellowship needs of the parish.

Lay Readers

The presentation of the scripture is an important element of our worship together. During services, lay readers present the scriptures which have been appointed for that week.  All members of our parish are welcome to share in this wonderful privilege sharing the word of God with other worshipers within St. Luke's parish.

Parish Greeters

St. Lukes Greeters were established to welcome and share the blessings we continually receive with newcomers and established members. We have a wonderful and loving group of greeters who provide an open hand and an open door for all those who have never been to St. Luke’s. Greeters help new visitors feel welcome and relaxed so they may experience the reality of our Living God and the Power of the Holy Spirit. Greeters also provide much needed information and guidance to any and all who have questions and need guidance.
